Beauty and the Beast (1991)

The new live in action version of the movie is all set to release in March, 2017 and while I eagerly look forward to watch this movie, I had to go back and watch the 1991 film again. This film was more of gift from Disney to an entire decade of kids. From its songs to the characters and talking household objects, everything was so enticing!!

A still from Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Beast’s transformation scene from Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Duration: 1h 50m

Genre: Fantasy, Romance

Cast: Angela Lansbury, Robby Benson, Paige O’Hara and Richard White

Rating: 5/5

Plot: A beautiful, awkward, adventurous, and young bookworm Belle is compelled to stay imprisoned in the enchanted castle of a fearful beast. However, she eventually learns that the seemingly rude beast is actually kind. But will she overlook the exterior ugliness of the beast and dare to fall in love with him?

What’s good?

The songs!!!! and the entire movie, the voice artists and the characters. Everything was memorable. But unlike the other Disney princesses, Belle was smart and strong enough to protect herself from Gaston on her own. Also, she is opinionated, stubborn and believes in her dreams.

What’s not?

Nothing with the movie but may be with the stigma surrounding the film about Stockholm Syndrome and other mental disorders.

What to do?

Watch it and you will definitely re-watch it!
